Cosmetics Industry Overview

Cosmetics have been around in one shape or form for many years, the earliest documented use of cosmetics is around 4000BC way back in ancient Egypt days where eye decoration and scents became common place. From then to now, very little has changed in the use of cosmetics, they are still used to contour and highlight the skin and features and to mask any body odour, although odour issues are not as big an issue now as it was back in those days.

The word "Cosmetics" is a rather broad term targeted towards many market sectors, its dictionary definition is;

1. A powder, lotion, lipstick, rouge, or other preparation for beautifying the face, skin, hair, nails, etc.

2. Cosmetics, superficial measures to make something appear better, more attractive, or more impressive.

A sub category of "Cosmetics" is "Makeup" this encompasses most modern day beauty products and is targeted to Facial cosmetics such as Eye Shadow, Lipstick, Mascara etc.

Today's Cosmetic market place is a huge global economy worth approximately $40 billion, mostly generated in the western countries but it is ever expanding into other global markets and these develop. One of the best known and oldest cosmetic providers is L'Oreal. L'Oreal first started in 1909 specialising in hair colouring products in France, this grew rather rapidly and eventually caught the eye of some now established cosmetics companies in the USA. The year 1910 was when the likes of Max Factor, Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein began their global domination of this now lucrative market. These companies were not joined by any others till Revlon joined in shortly before WWII and Estee Lauder just after WWII.

The cosmetics industry has developed rather rapidly since these early days of limited products as the quest for beauty has become ever more important. Brands are now represented by key celebrities around the world in a bid to increase the market share of this $40 billion industry. The modern Cosmetics range includes: Skincare, Lotions, Powders, Perfumes, Lip Colour, Nail polishes, Eye Makeup, Face Makeup, Hair Colour, Hair Care, Baby products, Bath Products, Party Makeup, Special FX makeup.

As with any growing industry using chemicals, the Cosmetics industry has been in resistance with Governing bodies from the word go as it brought into question the chemicals in use with these products. Most countries now have a governing body controlling the quality of allowable ingredients used within cosmetic products; the USA has the FDA (Food & Drug Administration). The FDA is a government Department of Health and Human Services and is responsible for the safety regulation of many things including Cosmetics. Because of the involvement of this regulation it has forced many companies to look at the ingredients used and eliminate some of the synthetic ingredients, thus the trend of the new "Good for you" makeup.

Many products now available boast not only a visible benefit to the skin but a nutritional one also. In terms of development cosmetics could be viewed as take a step back in the history timeline to ancient Egypt times. For years synthetic ingredients have replaced natural ones due to their ease to work with and the visible results. With that in mind these governing organisations have benefited the consumer, giving them better products using Natural or Organic materials. Natural products contain mineral and plant ingredients and organic products are made with organic agricultural products.

So when on the next makeup shopping spree bear a thought for what is on sale and weight up the price verses the benefits, as Natural Mineral makeup may have more of an impact on the wallet, but will come with the added benefit in protecting and nourishing the skin.

Some Interesting Facts About Cosmetic History

Based on the evidences found globally, the history of cosmetics has beginnings which can be traced back as early as 4000 BC. Throughout the existence of cosmetic history, it was defined differently by different people. Its meanings also differ depending on what century a person was born.

Today, we should all know that makeup and cosmetics are two different words with different meanings:

Cosmetics are any product that you put on your face or body with the purpose of making your appearance better, and perhaps making your skin healthier. Cosmetics can include everything from lotions, powders, creams, oils, perfumes, gels, hair bleaches and dyes, mud packs, nail polishes, deodorants, and a lot more.

Makeup is just a division of cosmetics that makes the face look beautiful. This includes eye shadows, eyeliners, lipsticks, mascaras, blushers, foundations, pressed powders, moisturizers, lip glosses, etc.

The earliest proof of the use of cosmetics dates back to ancient Egypt. Both the Egyptians and Romans applied cosmetics that have white lead and mercury. Furthermore, the makeup tools of the earliest Egyptians were very extensive.

One of the cosmetic/makeup mixtures was kohl and this was commonly used for highlighting the eyes. Kohl is a chemical where the main ingredients are lead, soot, burned almonds, copper, and so on. Their other beautifying agents also contain another toxic element which is arsenic.

The ancient Egyptians believed that the eye makeup can protect them from evil spirits as well as make their eyesight better. And this explains why even the poorest people in ancient Egypt also wore eye shadows.

The Persian people also made great contributions to the history of cosmetics. Persia was what is now called the Middle East. It was known that one of the oldest cosmetologists was a doctor whose name is Abu a-Qasim al-Zahrawi, who is more popularly known as Abulcasis. He was born in 936 AD and died 77 years later. But during his prime, he was able to write a medical encyclopedia called Al-Tasrif. In that 30-volume encyclopedia, he devoted the whole part of the 19th volume to cosmetics. According to this man, cosmetics is a branch of medicine, thus he called it the "Medicine of Beauty."

In the early days of the 20th century, makeup turned out to be a fashionable trend around Europe and the United States. Though, the most significant development globally in the history of cosmetics, was that of the entertainment industry in Hollywood. Some people in Hollywood who saw the great potentials of mass-marketing the cosmetics were Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubinstein, and Max Factor.

In the 1920's, red lipsticks, dark eyes, red nail polishes, and suntans were the fashion statement and were popularized by a rather famous french designer. Until that time, suntans were the result of much time spent in the fields by farm workers. On the other hand, most stylish women wanted their complexions to be as light as possible.

After this designer had popularized suntans as another beauty statement, counterfeit tan products started to flood the market. But in the Asian region, skin whitening products were more preferred because for Asians, pale skin epitomizes beauty.

In the 60's and 70's, Western women who were won over by feminism, chose not to use any cosmetics. The 70's marks the year of the "natural look" where women wore no makeup during the day and were fully made up in the evening.

All through the years, both men and women have used cosmetics for a lot of reasons. Today, makeup and cosmetics are either used or not used by individuals who would like to make a statement in one way or another.

Safe Weight Loss Is Not a Myth, Use Only Natural Weight Loss Supplements

From expanding waistlines to bulging stomachs, people are grappling with their weight and struggling to lose it.

An addiction to convenience based diets is further adding to the damage that is already done due to a sedentary lifestyle and desktop jobs.

As a result, obesity has reached epic proportions now and it is a precursor to a wide range of lifestyle diseases like diabetes and other cardiac problems which can prove to be fatal if left untreated.

But most people look for quick fixes rather than looking for a stable and long term solution to the problem. Surgical methods like stomach stapling and bariatric surgery which were only done for extremely obese people are today being done for cosmetic reasons.

On the other hand, there is a billion dollar industry for synthetic fat burners which is driven by the six pack fad which has gripped an entire generation.

Losing Weight Safely

Safe weight loss is not a myth. It is something that can be achieved with proper planning, correct dietary support and of course, exercise.

If you try to cut corners and skip any of these, then you are opting for a short cut. And short cuts usually lead to short term results only.

The problem with using fat burners is that the entire method by which they work is flawed.

Some fat burners increase the core temperature of the body in a process called Thermo genesis. They are loaded with caffeine which helps boost body temperature. This triggers the metabolism to increase as well and a person can lose weight when they club it with a healthy diet and exercise routine.

Other fat burners suppress the appetite fooling the body into thinking that it isn't hungry. So, naturally the person eats lesser and hence loses weight.

Then there are the third kind which are carb blockers or cheaters.

But there have been increasing incidences of hepatotoxicity associated with the use of fat burners. In simple terms, it is very toxic for the liver and unregulated use of these synthetic fat burners can even cause complete liver failure in the long run.

Herbal Fat Burners

Now let's talk about Natural Fat Loss Supplements that are derived from herbs.

In the recent times, the awareness about the effectiveness of herbs in treating a variety of diseases has increased.

Clinical studies have proven that herbs like tulsi, turmeric, Fenugreek, Bitter Melon and many others may offer a lot more benefits to human health than what was earlier known about them.

But that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many other herbs also with potential use in fat loss.

Vrikshamla: Also known as Malabar Tamarind, Vrikshamla has been used since ages as a culinary souring agent in Indian cuisine. But it was recently discovered that a compound called HCA which naturally occurs in Vrikshamla can help people lose weight in a safe manner. Since then, this herb which was used since centuries in Ayurveda has become an overnight sensation around the world.

Gymnema sylvestre: This herb was used in Ayurveda to reduce sugar cravings in people suffering from high diabetes. But very few people know that insulin secreted from the body is a signal for the body to store fat. By reducing the insulin levels, this herb allows your body to burn more fat.

Guggul: Guggul helps the body metabolize fat faster while also improving thyroid function. In a clinical study, people who used Guggul lost almost 6 pounds in 6 weeks when they clubbed it with exercise.

If you are looking to lose fat, then always use a proper diet, exercise and if you wish to use dietary supplements, use only natural weight loss supplements.

The Treatment Options Available for Wrinkles and Loose Skin

Perhaps not given a favorable reputation, fat is an essential factor in a youthful appearance. On a very sharp timeline, with age the fat in the face begins to diminish. This results in skin around the face to wrinkle, droop, and sag. There are numerous treatment options that are available and will help in determining which will be most effective.

Face and neck lifts

Large amounts of loose skin in the facial area can have considerable response to a face lift. This cosmetic surgery also known as a rhytidectomy, involves lifting the soft facial tissue, removing excess skin, and sculpting or redistributing the underlying fat in your facial tissue. Fat is sometimes taken from another part of the body and added to specific facial areas. The area is then re-sculpted by repositioning the skin and stitching the area back into place. Neck lifts are performed in a similar procedure. Cases that facelifts can be helpful in include:

-Areas where large amounts of facial skin is loose

-Extremely sagging cheeks

-Deepening creases below eyelids, around chin and lower lip

-Excess skin hanging from the lower jaw line is forming jowls

-Visible bands of skin in the neck area

-A loss of definition in the neck from excess fat

LJO eye and brow lifts

If the skin around the outer part of your brow is sagging, this specialized procedure concentrates only on lifting the outer tail of the brow. This avoids over correction that can come with a traditional brow lift which involves also lifting the forehead skin. Often used in conjunction with the brow lift, is eyelid surgery also known as blepharoplasty, which can correct the sagging skin around the eyelid.

Not limited to the face and neck areas, body lifts can be done to correct sagging skin in various bodily areas. Specific procedures that target zones of loose skin are also available.

An opera lift

The opera lift provides a more economical and less invasive alternative to the traditional facelift. This procedure combines fat removal, facial tightening, and a stem-cell-concentrated fat grafting system. It produces the same types of results as a traditional facelift but without the extensive incisions and healing period. Offered in the Minor and Major varieties, the Major provides a larger volume of stem-cell-fat grafting and incorporates plasma rich platelets, or PRP's from the patient's blood to reduce the bruising and enhance the graft.

Wrinkle treatment alternatives

There are even more treatments that help smooth out skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Skin enhancement treatments like Botox or a number of other fillers can be used.

Botox: Botulinum toxin type A, is injected into the muscles to stop them from contracting giving the skin an appearance that is smoother and less wrinkled.

Fillers: Fat and collagen as well as other soft tissue fillers when injected deep into a wrinkle furrow helps to smooth out the skin.

Deciding upon the most effective treatments for wrinkles and loose skin will depend on the location and extent of the wrinkle and sagging. Multiple treatments can be combined to exact an individualized plan that addresses and corrects specific issues and produces your more youthful looking skin. Always seek consultation and information before considering any procedure.

Get Healthy Hormones

Medical science and the unraveling of the human genome have, and are, providing us with great insights into how our bodies work and how we are susceptible to diseases and the aging process.

Our new understandings now allow us to significantly increase our healthy longevity. And when we take advantages of these new findings we make ourselves available to take advantages of the even newer technologies being developed.

There are seven basic causes that combine to make us vulnerable to diseases and to aging. One of the major causes is that our endocrine system ceases to secrete sufficient quantities of certain enzymes and hormones to keep up with the cell's battles with the build up of contaminants.

Our hormones decline with age but we can do something about it.

Our hormones regulate and control most of the functions of our bodies. Testosterone and estrogen, the major sex hormones in men and women respectively, give us the urge and ability to reproduce and continue the survival of our species.

But once we're past our reproductive prime, our hormone levels drop. This results in a lack of sex drive, insomnia, impotence, weight gain, and countless other potential health problems that significantly decreases our quality of life.

So we see that our hormone system was designed primarily for reproduction for the survival of the species. Our bodies produce high quantities of certain hormones and enzymes during our youth. These give us our youthful vitality, strength, and endurance. They help in the battles against free radicals and they help provide nutrients for cell repair. They keep our cells cleansed of the ashes of metabolism and environmental toxins.

As long as our bodies produce sufficient quantities of these enzymes and hormones, we stay young. But we, and all plants and animals were designed to stay healthy until we have reproduced and reared our young. Mother Nature has little interest in us after we have passed our genes on to the next generation.

As we age past our prime reproductive years we are no longer capable of producing sufficient quantities of the enzymes and hormones required to keep our cells "young and fit." With too little of these substances our cells begin to lose their battles against the free radicals and other destructive elements.

The cells begin to age, and die. The organs of which they are a part become ineffective. We become frail, we die.

But we can now do something about our hormone decline.

To make sure you are around when new health discoveries are proven and available, you need to understand your hormones and what they do for you and what you can do to keep them functioning.

One of the most important hormones is human growth hormone (HGH). I'll limit the discussion in this article just to it.

The effectiveness of HGH to improve health and slow aging was proven by Dr. Rudman in 1989.

During a six month test of 12 men aged 61-81 (against a control group of 9 men), the men lost 14.4% of their body fat and gained 8.8% lean body mass. Their skin thickened, their bone density increased and their livers and spleens increased to youthful sizes.

Dr. Rudman showed that HGH could change flabby, frail old men aged 61- 81 back to their previous biological ages of 41-61. In effect, he reversed their ages by 20 years, over a 6-month period. He concluded: "The overall deterioration of the body that comes with growing old is not inevitable."

In his follow-on six month study with the same men, their muscle mass increased an additional 6% (over the original 8.8%), and they lost an additional 15% fat (after the original 14.4% loss).

Others have repeated Dr. Rudman's tests and got similar results. There was a cry for the FDA to approve it as an anti-aging therapy. But, the FDA has been reluctant.

Nevertheless it hit the black-market and began to be widely used by bodybuilders.

Then in 1991, Texas businessman Howard Turney opened El Dorado Rejuvenation Clinic in Mexico - beyond control of the FDA.

And in 1994, Dr. Edmund Chein found a loophole (he was also a lawyer) in the FDA restriction. He went to court and argued that since the FDA had approved HGH for stunted-growth disorder - then a certified physician should be able to prescribe it for any purpose he sees fit. He won his argument and opened his Palm Springs Life Extension Institute in California.

He has since treated thousands of people between the ages of 31 and 92 to slow, stop, or reverse their aging. He has reversed the aging of most. And, he reports that he has had no significant adverse side effects during any of his operations.

Chein's results in increased muscle mass were 10.0% and 8.0% increase for two six month periods, which are similar to Dr. Rudman's results.

UK researchers duplicated Rudman's and Chein's results. And, Dr. Bengtsson of Sweden showed vastly improved energy levels and improved mood.

The French - Dr. Thierry Hertogh - showed that his patients experienced a 23% to 30% reduction in the size of their "love handles."

HGH makes fat more available as a fuel. Fat cells have hormone receptors that trigger a host of enzymatic reactions when HGH is present.

HGH has also been shown to enhance the effectiveness of the immune system. One major way it does this is to increase the thymus gland's output of T-cells (that destroy invading "germs"). This is especially important for people over 40. The thymus normally shrinks to the size of a raisin by age 40.

Tests also indicate that HGH can reverse heart disease by thickening the walls of the weakened ventricles.

Dr. Ronald Klatz, President of the American Academy of Anti-Aging summarizes the benefits of HGH replacement therapy:

"HGH is the ultimate anti-aging therapy. It affects every cell in the body, rejuvenating the skin and bones, regenerating the heart, liver, lung, and kidneys, bringing organ and tissue function back to youthful levels. It is the most effective anti-obesity agent ever discovered, revving up the metabolism to youthful levels, re-sculpturing the body by selectively reducing the fat in the waist, abdomen, hips, thighs, and at the same time increasing muscle mass. It may be the most powerful aphrodisiac ever discovered, reviving flagging sexuality and potency in men and women. It is cosmetic surgery in a bottle, smoothing out facial wrinkles; restoring the elasticity, thickness and contours of youthful skin; reversing the loss of extra cellular water that makes old people look like dried-up old prunes. It has healing powers that close ulcerated wounds and re-grow burned skin. It reverses the insomnia of later life, restoring "slow wave" or the deepest level of sleep. And, it is a mood elevator, lifting the spirit along with the body, bringing back a zest for life that many people thought was long gone."

Dr. Edmund Chein is more succinct: "It's a slam dunk! This (HGH) is 100% effective!"

The Internet is filled with advertisements for HGH replacement therapies. The vast majority are sponsored by unqualified people and organizations.

HGH has been proven very effective but has not been proven safe.

You should talk to your doctor to see if he/she suggests HGH for you. In any event you should watch the progress of safety programs so you can participate when proven safe.

The Importance of Plastic Surgery Board Certification

Doctors have always been perceived as making a lot of money. What people don't realize is that it takes a lot of time and money to become a doctor. Most doctors spend four years in medical school followed by anywhere from two to eight years in residency learning their craft. During this time, they incur a great deal of debt. Once they are out of residency, they must spend even more money establishing and maintaining a practice.

When managed care first arrived on the scene during the Clinton years, reimbursement for medical services by doctors was severely cut, leaving doctors struggling to repay residency loans and also to cover the costs of running their practice. In addition to making much less than they previously made through insurance, managed care agencies would drag their feet in paying the small amount that they would allow. Some doctors would have to hire another person in their office just to bulldog these agencies if they wanted to get paid at all.

So what does all of this have to do with board certification? In order to make ends meet, many doctors take weekend courses in cosmetic surgery in order to supplement their office income. Cosmetic surgery is paid for in cash, so doctors don't have to deal with stubborn insurance companies. While this approach might help alleviate the financial problems of doctors, a weekend course does not make them terribly qualified to perform complex cosmetic surgery procedures. These are the procedures that take qualified plastic surgeons years of training to perfect. A plastic surgery residency is the longest residency of any medical specialty.

In this country, anyone with an M.D. degree can perform any medical procedure that they want to perform. There is no regulation over who does what. As a result, many doctors in specialties other than plastic surgery now tout themselves in their advertising as "board certified plastic surgeons." While they may be board certified in some medical specialty, it is not plastic surgery. There are twenty-four specialties recognized by the American Medical Association. Only the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) is recognized for the training and certification of plastic surgeons. Only plastic surgeons certified by the ABPS have completed the rigorous training and certifying exams to make them qualified to perform such surgery.

With the advent of the internet and the age of information, we have the ability to research surgical procedures and the doctors who perform them. Still, I get patients in my office who opted to cut corners financially or simply didn't realize that the doctor who performed their cosmetic surgery was not, in reality, a "board certified plastic surgeon" as he advertised. Now they are paying even more to correct their bad result. Plastic surgery, like any surgery, is a life-changing event. It pays to get the most qualified doctor that you can which is why it is always good to make sure that the doctor doing the surgery is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Accept no others!

Are Mineral Cosmetics the Best Choice For Your Skin?

Mineral cosmetics have become very popular over the last several years since many people want to reduce their exposure to the various chemicals found in conventional cosmetics. Some synthetic compounds found in conventional products are phthalates (found mainly in nail polish), ethyl acetate (found in mascara and nail polish), talc (found in eye shadow and deodorants), and petrolatum (found in almost all cosmetics). It is important for us consumers to know if these chemicals can negatively affect our skin and possibly undermine our health.

Most cosmetics sold at department stores contain a number of different chemicals and several of these compounds have been shown to be hazardous to our health. Phthalates are classified as chemical solvents and these compounds are capable of dissolving one or more other substances. Some side effects reported with exposure to phthalates are damage to various organs such as the kidneys, liver and lungs. Another toxic chemical found in nail polish is toluene. This compound is flammable and can make the nails dry and brittle. Instead of using the chemical based polishes found on the market, you could use a natural water based polish. In these natural formulas, a good percentage of the product is composed of water and not chemical solvents such as toluene and phthalates. The coloring agents in these formulas are naturally derived from carmine (a dried insect, when boiled its color is extracted), mineral sources such as the iron oxides, from beets, and a yellow spice called turmeric.

Each day a woman applies several different cosmetics to her skin, she is being exposed to many toxic chemicals including the heavy metals lead, cadmium, and arsenic. These metals are not only found in facial cosmetics but also exist in shampoo, deodorant, and perfume.

Most women use eye shadow on a daily basis and this cosmetic contains a chemical called polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). This compound has been shown to cause an allergic reaction in some people. It is important to read all product labels before purchasing any brand of eye shadow and avoid those that contain PVP.

Lipstick is another cosmetic product that is used by women on a daily basis. News reports over the past year have detailed that this type of cosmetic contains lead and exposure to this heavy metal is especially dangerous for pregnant women. Children who were exposed to lead were shown to have impaired school performance, and a lower IQ as compared to those students who did not come in contact with this heavy metal. When choosing a safe product for your lips, select a formula that does not contain synthetic colors or preservatives and is lead free.

Natural lipsticks are a better and safer choice since they do not contain petroleum, chemical fragrances or any FD&C colors. A major ingredient in lipstick and chapstick is beeswax. The coloring agent mainly used in these products is derived from iron oxides. It is important to note that there is a natural and synthetic form of iron oxide. Natural iron oxide is mined from the earth's surface and will contain some levels of the heavy metals lead and arsenic; this compound is considered safe for use in cosmetics. Synthetic iron oxide is not a natural product and is also considered safe for use in cosmetics.

Many natural lip products also contain moisturizing agents such as shea butter, aloe vera gel, and jojoba oil since they help keep the lips moist. Since what we put on our lips is easily ingested, it is important for us to avoid those products that contain toxic chemicals or synthetic coloring agents.

If you suffer from acne or any other skin condition, it is important that you read all product labels before purchasing any cosmetics. Foundations in the form of blushes and powders highlight and add color to the skin. Some of these conventional cosmetics contain talc and these formulas should be avoided since that chemical compound has been linked with cancer. In addition, most cosmetic foundations contain mineral oil and this compound has been shown to clog pores. Any cosmetic that contains mineral oil should not be used by those people who have acne.

A healthier choice for your skin and health is to use an organic foundation. Most truly organic cosmetics will contain essential oils and they are derived from plants that have not been treated with pesticides or herbicides. The chemicals found in these pesticides can cause skin irritation and or an allergic reaction in some people. In addition, choose a foundation that does not contain talc but instead uses clays derived from either bentonite or kaolin. It is also important to avoid using any formulas that contain the synthetic preservatives methyl or propylparaben since both of these compounds are skin irritants. In addition, some medical reports have documented that these chemicals have been found in breast tissue.

As we can see, there are many benefits in using mineral cosmetics for our skin. They are not only a safer choice for us but are also non toxic and will not pose any threat to our health or the environment. It is also important for us to understand that not all so called natural cosmetics are safe. We cannot assume that if a product is labeled as natural or if it contains organic ingredients that it is chemical free. It is important for us consumers to read the entire list of ingredients on each label of the product you are interested in and research any of the compounds that you do not recognize. Take your time before deciding upon a particular brand of natural cosmetics so that you can make the best informed choice. The best formulas are manufactured by smaller companies who manufacture vegan products in smaller batches, are chemical free, and use ingredients produced from strictly organic sources. Daily use of these products will highlight your skin with vibrant natural colors and not cause any allergic reactions or pose any serious health risk.

Perfect Glowing Skin - How To Have Perfect Glowing Skin In 7 Steps

Who Can Succeed To Have Perfect Glowing Skin? Is this luxury only for the young?

Aging does slow down the production of collagen and slowly breaks down the fibrous tissues that hold strength and shape. But,there are ways to nourish the epidermis and keep it healthy to produce radiance.

What causes skin to lose it's radiance over time? Babies have the most amazing skin. It is so kissable, soft, and supple. We were babies once. Why didn't our skin stay that way?

Babies skin was protected in the womb and was surrounded by fluid to keep it moisturized. What diet do babies have once they are born? An all liquid diet. Babies stay well hydrated
(as diaper changers would know). The liquid diet babies receive is packed full of nutrients that help keep the epidermis healthy.

Can you once again possess the radiance, softness, and perfect glowing skin? Yes you can.
Your skin needs to be protected, hydrated, and properly nourished to assist the functions of the skin cells and have perfect glowing skin.

How To Have Perfect Glowing Skin In 7 Steps

Protect & guard your skin from harm:

1. Ultraviolet rays from the sun cause harm to the collagen and elastin fibers. These protein fibers are weakened by the suns rays and cause sagging and dullness.

2. Keep toxins away from your body. Tobacco use, illegal drugs, and excessive junk food, inhibit healthy cell growth. To renew and regenerate healthy skin cells, stay away from harmful substances.

Hydration and keeping moisturized:

3. The best liquid to help your tissue is water. Drinking plenty of water will help to flush out toxins. Water aids the blood in carrying nutrients to the epidermis.

4. Use a daily moisturizer morning and night. A moisturizer can protect the surface cells and aid in hydration.

5. Oils assist in hydration and regulate sebum production. Olive oil, avocado oil, cocoanut oil, and grapeseed oil are very therapeutic to the skin. Essential oils such as lemon and geranium have very small molecules that can penetrate cells and aid in cell regeneration.

Nourish your epidermis with food to strengthen the collagen and elastin fibers.

6. Sprouts are packed full of nutrients. When beans and seeds are sprouted, the vitamins and minerals increase their amounts about 200%. Sprouting is cheap and easy to do.

7. Juiced wheatgrass has been shown to dramatically reduce the signs of aging. Wheatgrass juice should be consumed in small amounts. Follow the guidelines for wheatgrass use.

Treating and Restoring Your Skin

Neck or face melanomas are a type of skin cancer that is seemingly becoming more and more prominent around the world today. However, it is entirely possible to treat the condition. Even though surgery is often used to treat the cancer, it can also help to restore your skin to its original appearance before the melanoma.

Symptoms

Melanoma tends to occur whenever the melanocytes go through a type of change that allows them to produce melanin. When melanin is produced, it causes a darker appearance on the skin. If you already had moles, they can end up turning into a melanoma. The condition can also cause new moles to develop on the skin. To check for the symptoms of a melanoma, look for the following warning signs:

-Asymmetry - Check for any areas that are asymmetrical in nature.

-Borders - Look for any irregular edges around your growth.

-Color - See if there is a mixture of colors in the growth, such as black, brown, tan, blue, red or white.

-Diameter - Look for an abnormal area that is about the size of a pencil eraser, although some have been even smaller than that.

-Evolution - Watch to see if the mole is continuing to evolve or change.

People Who Are Prone to Melanomas

Even though aging might increase the chance of you getting a melanoma, younger individuals can also be affected. Those with fair skin, blue or green eyes and red or blonde hair are at the greatest risk. Where you live also plays a role in whether you end up with the condition or not. If you spend a lot of time outside, that will increase your risk as well. Tanning booths, a family history of the disease and a weak immune system also increase your risk.

Treating Melanomas

A biopsy will help determine whether you have a melanoma or not. Additional testing will help determine if cancer has spread into the area or not. Radiation, chemotherapy and various other treatments can help combat cancer that has spread. Surgery might be needed to remove the melanoma from your skin.

The surgery to remove the melanoma also requires removing the surrounding tissue. Depending on how deep the melanoma is, the amount of skin that has to be removed is going to vary. Once the growth has been removed, cosmetic surgery can be used to help correct the skin and restore it to its natural state.

Dental Tips for Both Adults and Children to Follow

Good dental health is a major part of overall good physical health, and childhood is the best time to learn the best dental habits and techniques. Children and adults can both benefit from some core best practices for a lifetime of excellent dental health, and family dentists are often the best teachers of those practices.

All aspects of good health begin with a proper diet. A clean diet of whole, natural foods will provide the necessary nutrients for strong teeth, a healthy body, and overall positive well-being. Carrots, apples, and other hard crunchy foods clean teeth naturally; many vegetables are high in calcium and other essential minerals, and the additional chewing necessary to process natural unprocessed foods stimulates the gums and strengthens the teeth.

Digestion begins in the mouth, and the bacteria present in the mouth can convert sugars and carbohydrates to acids which then attack tooth enamel. One should eat highly acidic foods such as tomatoes or citrus along with other more neutral foods and plenty of liquids to dilute the acidic effect. Foods such as dairy products, meats, nuts, and green leafy vegetables restore minerals to teeth after acid exposure thus helping to preserve tooth enamel.

In addition to starting kids out right with a proper diet, parents should emphasize and practice proper brushing and flossing techniques on their children when they are brushing their teeth for them so that the children will feel that those practices are second nature when they take over for themselves. Parents should then continue to share "brushing time" with their kids as long as it is practical.

Dental care should be a regular regimen in its own right and not an afterthought to meals. Parents should take six-month checkups as seriously as they do birthdays and holidays. Brushing should be like voting: best when done "early and often". Children should brush with a soft or medium brush, paying special attention to the back teeth, and they should start flossing as soon as their teeth begin to touch. Each mouth is different and a child's mouth will change drastically as he grows, so parents should consult with their family dentists regularly for any recommended variations on standard brushing techniques.

The toothbrush need not only live in the bathroom: Travel-size versions of dental-care products are inexpensive and easy to stash in lunchboxes, backpacks, briefcases, and glove compartments for those moments when someone forgets to brush or simply does not have enough time for the regular routine. This ensures that kids and adults alike can properly take care of their teeth wherever they go.

Prosthodontists, Orthodontists, and cosmetic dentists are trained in aesthetic and restorative dental care for those that have damaged or misaligned teeth. Cosmetic dentists take over where nature fails, using techniques ranging from simple whitening to major surgery to repair and restore proper function and aesthetic appeal in patients of all ages.

Family dentists are allies in good health, not bogeymen to be feared, and children that are raised with proper dental awareness and techniques become adults with great teeth and good dental health.

Choosing the Best Implant Size For You

Until recently, most patients never discussed breast implant shapes or profiles with their plastic surgeons. If you chose a certain size breast implant, you would receive a predetermined amount of forward projection from that size implant. Now, you can choose size and, if you like, have that size stick out more or less than the base diameter would usually dictate. The first choice to make is the shape; the second choice is the profile. Shape refers to the actual shape of the implant, round or anatomical. Profile refers to the distance the implant projects off the chest wall. The third Choice is the surface of the implant

Shapes

Because women's breasts take many sizes and shapes, and because goals for breast enhancement vary from patient to patient, there are different shapes available. For some women, the round provides the best results; for others, a better choice is an implant shaped like a teardrop. The appearance of breasts is highly affected by shapes.

Considerations include:

    The patient's body type
The amount of breast tissue the patient has.
    Breast implant placement
    Surgical incision choice

Round

Of the two implant shapes, the round breast implant is the most common type used for breast augmentation. A round implant is shaped like a flattened sphere. Certain types of round implants can enhance the forward projection of the breasts, which would otherwise require larger implants with wider bases. For women who desire fullness in the upper poles of their breasts, the round is a good choice.

Many women choose round because they tend to provide the greatest amount of lift, fullness, and cleavage. Some women, however, feel that the results produced with round implants appear artificial, so they seek out more natural-looking alternatives. A round breast can have a smooth or textured surface. Due to a round symmetrical shape, it does not pose the risk of rotation. The cost of a round breast implant is generally less than a teardrop (contoured).

Tear Drop

As the name indicates, a teardrop, also known as a contoured breast implant, is shaped like a teardrop. Breasts attain a more gently sloping contour with teardrops. Although the upper poles of breasts that have teardrop implants are not as full as those of breasts that have round, teardrop-shaped implants often provide greater projection by volume. Of the two breast implant shapes, a teardrop is more expensive than a round breast implant, a consideration for those concerned with breast augmentation cost. A teardrop requires a textured surface to prevent rotation because, with teardrops breasts can become distorted if the implant rotates. This is not a concern with round breast implants.

Surfaces

After you have made the choice to have breast implant surgery, you must decide between two breast implant texture options: smooth and textured. On this page, we describe the differences between the two types to provide you with a better understanding so you can make an informed decision.

There is great debate amongst surgeons which is better. Some studies have shown fewer complications - specifically capsular contraction - with textured implants, but others have shown the opposite. The shells of both saline and silicone gel breast implants are made of silicone elastomer (rubber), and the surface area is either smooth or textured. The main purpose of textured implants is to promote tissue adherence to the irregular surface and hold them into place. Therefore, a textured surface is used with contoured implants because they have a top and bottom, and rotation or movement distorts the breast shape. On the other hand, most round implants have a smooth surface because the breast shape is not affected if the implant rotates in the breast pocket.

Smooth

Smooth implants are used in roughly 90 percent of breast augmentation surgeries today. A smooth breast implant is able to move freely in the breast pocket in which it is placed. Many women eel that smooth implants have a more natural feel and appearance than textured implants. Smooth implants usually have thinner shells than textured implants, which makes them the softer choice of the two. Additional benefits of a smooth breast implant include implant longevity, lower patient cost, and reduced risk of rippling.

Textured

It was originally thought that the textured surface of an implant could reduce the possibility of capsular contracture, a potential complication of breast implants. However, because evidence is not clear and there is no consensus as to whether a textured breast implant actually reduces the possibility of capsular contracture, many doctors prefer to use smooth, round implants. Smooth implants are often placed under muscle tissue in order to help avoid possible capsular contracture.

Textured breast implants have an irregular surface that is intended to hold the implant in place. The scar tissue that naturally forms around the implant conforms to the textured surface and "grabs" the implant to prevent it from being displaced or turning in the pocket, which could result in distortion of the breast shape. A textured surface is used with contoured implants to prevent movement because the teardrop shape is distorted if any rotation occurs. Textured implants were designed to lessen the risk of capsular contracture, which is an excessive contraction of the scar capsule that surrounds the implant, by preventing scar tissue from forming around the implant in a uniform manner. However, studies have proven inconclusive and no firm evidence exists to support the theory that textured implants reduce the risk of capsular contracture.

If a patient requires implant removal due to capsular contracture or another complication, it may be more difficult for the surgeon to remove the implant because of the adherence of tissue to the textured surface. The shells of textured breast implants are slightly thicker than smooth implants.Textured implants are more firm and carry an increased risk of rippling that is visible or can be felt through the skin, especially for women with smaller breasts. There is also a small increase in the chance that the implant shell will rupture.

Profiles

When breast augmentation patients meet with their Thailand surgeons to discuss the many implant options that are available to them, they not only need to decide on a specific sized implant, but determine the amount of forward projection that is appropriate for the patient as well. In the past, implants came with a standard projection, or profile, based on the size of the implant that women choose. Today, surgeons and patients can work together to select an implant that is not only the right size, but also provides the desired projection and cleavage. The most important criterion for profile selection is the base diameter of the breast.

This is easily measured by the surgeon with a calipers or measuring tape. The implant diameter must be less than the breast base, or it will be "squeezed" circumstantially. This will force it to scallop, or ripple around the outer edge, creating a range of other problems. Among these is visible rippling; It has been observed of much less rippling since the high profile implants became available, because the base diameter can be matched more precisely.

Low Profile

The low profile implant shell is wider (larger diameter) and flatter (less height or depth) than moderate profile breast implants. This implant style is commonly used for women who have a wide broad chest frame. The extra width of the implant shell will fill the chest anatomy correctly, achieving a natural look and realistic cleavage. The implant will not project as far off the body as other implant styles, making it the right choice for women who want fullness, but not an overly round and obviously enhanced look. The main criteria used to select low profile implants are the base diameter of the breast and dimensions of the chest. The implant should be smaller than the base diameter of the natural breast mound, which is often substantial in wider framed women.

Moderate Profile

Moderate Plus Profile

Moderate plus implants are a half step compromise between traditional moderate profile implants and popular new high profile implants. The moderate plus profile is perfect for women who want a bit more projection than is typically provided by a moderate profile, but not as much projection as is found with the high profile shell.

Moderate plus describes the distance the implant will project off the chest wall, once they are surgically placed inside the breast.

High Profile

High profile breast implants are a great innovation in breast implant design. First available in the early 1990's, high profile implants have filled the specific needs of many patients perfectly, helping them to achieve a pleasing breast esthetics and an extremely natural shape and contour. High profile implants have also become a favorite of many cosmetic surgeons and are recommended to many patients due to their excellent surgical results.

High profile implants project the further off the chest wall, when compared to other common implant profiles. The high profile implant will achieve this projection by having a smaller base diameter than an identically sized (in cc's) moderate or low profile implant shell. By decreasing the diameter of the shell, but keeping the same fill volume, the manufacturer is able to increase the depth or forward projection.

High profile implants are perfect for women with a narrower chest frame who still want a considerable size increase during their breast augmentation surgery. Instead of using a wider base diameter moderate implant, the doctor will choose a narrower high profile shell which will suit the patient's anatomy and project out to accommodate the volume of the filler material. High profile implants are also commonly indicated for patients who are undergoing a combination breast enlargement and donut mastopexy procedure. This modified mastopexy, like many breast lift operations sometimes squares off the breast shape slightly, making it appear wider and less round. The shape of the high profile implant shell restores the rounded shape of the breast, while still allowing the considerable benefits of the mastopexy lift.

While some studies say that these high profile shells reduce visible wrinkling and rippling, the reasoning given is generally incorrect. It is not anything to do with the design of the implant which decreases this noticeable unwanted breast enlargement complication. it is simply a better anatomical fit. Wrinkling and rippling often occurs when a women with a narrow chest frame desires large implants. The base diameter of her natural breasts is smaller than the base diameter of her implants. Obviously, the implant will be compressed and distorted by the small confines of the pocket inside her breast. This distortion causes the wrinkling and rippling which can be so unappealing to many affected patients. By utilizing a proper fitting high profile implant with a base diameter smaller than the natural breast width, the surgeon can guarantee a good fit with no implant shell distortion. The patient's size request is accommodated by the increase in forward projection creating a flawless augmented, butvery natural looking breast.

Ultra High Profile

Ultra High Profile implants available are through Mentor, this implant provides the narrowest base and highest projection. They are only available in Round shape and up to 495cc. Ultra High profile implants are perfect for women with a narrower chest frame who still want a considerable size increase during their breast augmentation surgery. Instead of using a wider base diameter implant, the doctor may choose the ultra high profile if the high profile is not enough projection. This may suit the patient's anatomy and project out to be able accommodate the volume of the filler material.

There are two ways to increase projection in an implant. The first way is to add more volume to the implant. The other way to add projection is to make the base (diameter) of the implant smaller. Thus for any given volume, a smaller base has more projection. This is what 'high profile' implants do-they have a smaller diameter with a higher projection.

The Right Nutrients Will Fight Baldness Fast

It can be somewhat of a mystery when you are losing hair. It seems like it just sneaks up on you and before you know it you are losing tons and tons of hair each day. Really though hair loss doesn't sneak up on you. It's a gradual process.

Fortunately it is something that isn't impossible to stop. In fact there are a few things you can do to make some changes happen as early as today. You'll see possible results within weeks to months later.

Getting the right nutrients into your body is one of the biggest keys to growing back missing hair. It gets totally overlooked most of the time simply because most people just don't eat right.

It's more to it than just eating right. You must eat the right foods containing specific hair growing nutrients. So what are they?

Important Vitamins To Fight Baldness

First of all vitamins can often determine whether or not you get your hair back, or if you stay on the continuing road to baldness. One of the absolute best vitamins to stimulate hair growth are B vitamins.

B6, biotin, inositol and folic acid are extremely important vitamins. Make sure that you not only supplement your diet with them in the form of multi-vitamins, but eat plenty of whole grain cereals, nuts and even leafy green vegetables as well.

A lot of home remedies out there for stopping hair fall incorporate the use of olive oil in them. Not only will olive oil work as a topical agent to relieve your hair follicles of any stress upon them, but when you eat it and use it in food dishes it benefits you as well.

It has plenty of vitamin E and it wouldn't hurt to eat nuts, seeds and avocados too since they also contain vitamin E.

Iron Is The Perfect Hair Growth Stimulant

Before I conclude this article I just wanted to tell you why iron is a major mineral you can't do without. It helps aid in the production of hemoglobin, a part of your blood that carries oxygen to organs and tissue.

Along with this oxygen flowing through your blood, iron will enable good circulation through your scalp. This ensures that weak follicles get stronger and healthy hair follicles stay strong.

Dried raisins, eggs, and even kale are all fruits and vegetables that are full of iron that you shouldn't leave out of your diet.

Natural Soaps And Their Benefits

Natural soaps are made using natural ingredients and include no chemicals at all. The chemicals contained in most soaps can be the source of skin issues and problems and it is therefore more beneficial to buy natural soaps to keep off ugly skin reactions. It is actually very common for people suffering from different skin problems to be advised to switch to natural options as a way of getting rid of the problems.

Most of the natural soaps in the market are well labeled to guide you when purchasing for you and your family. They are usually made up of organic ingredients which are safe for the skin and general health. The most common ingredients include organic oats, aloe, peppermint and prickly pear cactus. They also contain different natural ingredients such as olive oil, cinnamon, wild carrot, goat's milk, wild yucca root, horsemint, Moroccan red clay and unrefined African Shea butter. Sunflower seeds and petals, essential oils and sea salt are also common ingredients in natural soaps.
  1. The organic, natural ingredients are usually grown without the use of pesticides and chemical hence they do not end up polluting the air. When you switch to a natural option therefore, you will be playing a role in protecting the environment. The soaps have a bunch of benefits and they include the following.
  2. They are gentle and therefore very suitable for sensitive skin. They can actually soothe the skin thanks to the important natural ingredients they are made up of.

Detox Your Skin For True Natural Beauty

Taking care of your skin is a necessity not a luxury.

The skin is by far and away the body's largest organ and is constantly in contact with all the earthly elements. Pollutants like dust and dirt, as well as smoke-filled rooms and stale air, can clog up the pores and lead to unwanted skin outbreaks!

A poor diet and circulation problems can be the root cause of blemishes and unexplained redness. Healthy skin is also an important part of other bodily functions and acts as a barrier against dangerous outside influences on other organs, and thereby supports the immune system.

Learning how to detox your skin will give you the chance to show off beautiful, glowing skin that feels as beautiful as it looks.

Clean up inside first!

Your skin is the outward sign of what is going on in your body. Too much sun, stress plus an unhealthy diet, can result in skin problems such as uneven skin tone, blemishes and dull looking skin. These issues develop because the skin cannot perform its function of eliminating toxins properly when the body is toxic. This can damage collagen and elastin in the skin, the elements that help the skin stay young.

Research has shown that a major issue with skin eruptions and a lifeless-looking complexion, is too much acid in the system as a result of bad eating habits. A good way to start a healthy eating plan, is to make certain that your acid/alkaline levels are in sync and that the acidic overload in your system is reduced.

Here are some tips to get you started.

Cut out as much refined foods as possible from your diet. Alternatively, drastically cut down on your intake of things such as cakes, biscuits, bread rolls, bread, pasta, fizzy drinks, sweets and chocolates. When these delicacies hit the stomach they turn into acid, rendering the body unable to deal effectively with the excess acid. Skin breakouts and rashes often result.
Eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. A balanced diet of acid/alkaline foods will ensure that good nutrients are sent to the skin.
Reduce alcohol intake. Give up or cut down smoking. The impurities in cigarettes always show in the complexion as dry, old looking skin.

Stick to your healthy diet and you will soon begin to feel better physically and see a difference in the appearance of your skin, even before you detox!

What are my options for detoxing my skin?

Your skin helps to eliminate waste from the body mainly through the sweat glands. Dead skin cells are also a form of bodily waste, which need to be removed, to assist the growth of new epidermal cells to replace those which are constantly being shed.

There are various ways to detox the skin, such as having a sauna to encourage sweating, or adding apple cider vinegar and Epsom salts to your bath which will draw toxins out through the skin. You can even try a natural clay mask for the face.

However, a highly effective, yet simple method, known as exfoliation, will undoubtedly be your best option.

What is exfoliation?

Exfoliation is the removal of the dead cells on the surface of the skin, a process which has been used for many years to maintain healthy skin.
Exfoliation is beneficial because it gets rid of stubborn dead cells that make your skin look lifeless and dull, and reveals younger, fresh cells below.
Regular exfoliation also helps to combat signs of aging by removing damaged skin and encouraging the growth of new skin.
This process needs to be performed no more than once or twice weekly, with extra care being taken of the delicate facial skin.
Exfoliation is a cost-effective, simple protocol which unclogs blocked pores and is beneficial to the entire body.

Are there special tools I need to use?

Exfoliation gloves are all you will have to purchase. The gloves are designed for use on every part of the body, and are especially useful for use on the legs and other large areas, where anything smaller than an exfoliating glove will be too time consuming, and certainly not as effective.

Beauty junkies, for a brand new flawless complexion, an exfoliation glove is the way to go!

Get Acquainted With A Female Hair Loss Solution To Treat Your Hair Thinning Issues

Contrary to popular belief, men are not the only ones going through the trauma of hair fall, thinning hair, or bald patches. This rather distressing phenomenon is known to affect a sizeable percentage of women from different age groups as well. Moreover, with a social stigma generally attached to hair fall in women, the fairer sex may often find themselves cornered on this issue and suffering in silence.

Some women change their hair styles to camouflage the thinning patches. Others start looking for practical ways and means to fight back the signs of hair fall and reverse this rather embarrassing trend. The idea is to understand more about a female hair loss solution that can treat thin and lackluster tresses and enhance the manageability, volume, and fullness of the hair strands.

Understanding female hair loss

Before we delve into the solution for hair loss in women, we need to understand the specifics of the issue at hand.

For women dealing with a "more than normal" hair fall, the thinning of hair may be visible all over the crown. Some women may witness a gradual widening of the central parting in their hair, while others may have to deal with noticeable sparse patches at the top of the head. These problems come up when the hair growth cycles are not optimized and can lead to large clumps of hair falling off when you are brushing or shampooing your hair strands.

According to experts, the causes for hair loss in women could be anything from hormonal imbalances, improper eating habits, lack of sleep, severe physical or emotional stress, and use of harsh hair care products, to heredity factors. Once you identify the causes for hair loss, the female hair loss solution specific to you should not be hard to decipher.

You can consult a doctor to know more about the specific cause of your rampant hair fall. For instance, your doctor might recommend a few tests to rule out thyroid problems and hormonal imbalances causing havoc with your hair.

So, how can we go about treating hair loss and ensure thicker, fuller hair?

Use hair regrowth treatment containing Minoxidil

Minoxidil is the only FDA-approved ingredient to treat hair fall and regrow hair. This vasodilator promotes oxygen, blood, and nutrients to the hair follicles. It is now being used to formulate hair regrowth treatments by leading hair care brands.

Adopt a healthy lifestyle

One of the significant causes of hair fall in women is the extreme stress they may have to deal with at work or even within their personal spaces. This kind of stress can lead to a sudden shedding of hair strands, which could last for six to eight months after the initial trigger, such as a sudden increase in work pressure or an emotionally distressing event taking place.

So, you would need to stay relaxed and in a positive state of mind as far as possible, despite the hectic work schedules or social obligations. The female hair loss solution in this case would be something as simple as taking up an activity you might be interested in that can keep your mind off the pressing issues 24x7, so that you are in a better frame of mind to deal with them later on. You can also practice meditation every day to keep your nerves calm and your body healthy. This would also reflect on the health of your tresses and help you get back the thicker, fuller hair you were accustomed to before the hair strands started falling out.

Eat healthy and well-balanced meals, so that your body gets all the nutrients needed to maintain the health of your tresses. Salmon is rich in proteins, vitamins, and omega-3 fatty acids and good for your hair. You can also get all the intake of essential fatty acids from avocado, walnuts, and pumpkin seeds.

Drink adequate amounts of water to flush out toxins from the body and maintain the health of your hair.

Take care of your thinning hair

Go easy on the blow dryers and curling irons to prevent damage to thin hair as well as accidental breakage. Do not rub wet hair strands vigorously, rather use a soft towel to pat dry the hair instead to ensure that the strands do not break and fall off.

Damaged hair needs special care and looking after to ensure that the hair strands appear thicker and fuller. Use sulfate free shampoos and conditioners to preserve the youthful look of your tresses. Stay away from products that contain harsh chemicals to protect hair strands.

You can also opt for hair styling products from leading hair care brands to enhance the manageability of your thinning hair strands while giving your hair a glossy appearance. A styling product can add to the volume of your hair and hide the magnitude of hair loss. If you are getting ready for a social get together and need help in styling your thinning tresses according to latest trends, such a product can be the female hair loss solution you were looking for.

What Hair Loss Says About Your Health

Sometimes losing your hair is just losing your hair without any deeper meaning or reason. Other times, losing your hair can be triggered by some health factor within your body. Good health is the key to everything working like clockwork in and outside your organs. So when your beloved mane begins to fall off, you can easily ignore it thinking it is genetics, and as long as there is Hair Transplant, you will get another full head in no time.

That can be the easiest explanation to hair loss, but sometimes losing hair can be a sign of bigger things going on inside your body. And by bigger I mean bad, corrupt, alarming etc., which should make you reconsider the hereditary theory, and look deeply into your health because some conditions can affect the hair as much as they affect your body.

Literally speaking, hair, just like nails, is an extension of your body, and can give you some insider information on your overall health. Here are a few messages your hair loss episodes could be sending you about your health.

Stress

We all know and hate stress as well as stressed situations. Studies have shown that too much stress can lead to hair loss. So if you are losing your hair, and at the same time find that you have too much stress in your life, it is about time you tried to relax. The hair loss is screaming to you to take things easy, otherwise something worse than losing your beloved will happen.

Depression

Although losing hair can occasionally indicate that you are depressed, in certain situations you do not need to find a handful of hair on your pillow for you to realise this. On the other hand, the hair loss could be connected to the anti-depressants you are taking. Both ways, depression is a disease that needs to be treated, and before focusing on your hair, treat the disease first then everything else will fall into place.

Hypothyroidism

This disease attacks as a result of your thyroid not working effectively. Some of the symptoms include a change in appearance of your hair as well as increased shedding. If you think you are suffering from this disease, it is important to get to your doctor's office ASAP to get a diagnosis as well as treatment.

Prostate cancer

A number of studies have shown that there is a link between hair loss and prostate cancer. According to one study, males who suffered hair loss by the age of 30 years were more likely to have prostate cancer by the age of 60. But you know the best way to fight this cancer is through early detection. So maybe your hair loss is a way of your body telling you to get that prostate checked.

Protein deficiency

Since protein is one part of your diet that encourages healthy hair growth, when your lovely mane starts falling out, you should look closely at your protein intake. Maybe you are not taking enough or maybe you are not eating any at all. In this case, the only solution is to start taking your daily serving of high protein food without missing a beat.

Anaemia

Iron deficiency can easily lead to hair loss and hair thinning. And if you do not have any other symptoms, then it would be difficult to pay attention to what your falling hair is trying to tell you. If this happens, get a test to determine if it is really anaemia causing hair loss, and then start on restocking your bodily iron stores. This can be in the form of foods rich in iron or supplements. Whichever way works for you, make sure you fill up on iron.

Sometimes hair loss might raise a red flag even when whatever is happening to your body is not a health threat. Circumstances for this include pregnancy, birth control and menopause. Others related to your health include weight loss, certain medications, eating disorders and chemotherapy.

For any concerns about any hair loss you might be going through, visit your general practitioner for a diagnosis. As for Hair Transplant and Hair Restoration, give us a call for a free consultation.

Stop Hair Loss for Good

The amount of hair loss and cases of similar issues today is rising. You may be wondering why we see more of it than we did in the past. The modern world brings a lot of stress and environments that could lead to hair loss. Perhaps it is apart of all the processed and unhealthy foods we have access to. If you are searching how to make your hair healthier, look no further. I have discovered a lot of things we can do to slow down or stop hair loss:

Look at your diet

There is great benefit in adding essential fatty acids to your eating schedule. These are key for scalp and hair health, especially if you're experiencing thinning hair. You can easily find healthy fats in fish, nuts, and oils. In general you should have a diet rich in protein, with a balance between all the food groups. This will assure you are getting fruits and vegetables, good meat sources, along with dairy and grain products to promote hair health.

Consider taking a supplement

This is a longterm strategy that can yield awesome results if you stay consistent. Supplements such as a multivitamin or fish oil will give your body nutrients it can use to improve your hairs look and feel. Multivitamins contain Iron, Zinc, vitamin A, and much more that all together are great for the scalp. Fish oil pills give you high amounts of healthy fats which I touched upon in the above point.

Use products that have good ingredients

Conventional shampoo and conditioners you buy from the store could potentially be aiding to your hair loss. While these products are advertised as something good for hair, some chemicals in them act as the opposite. Organic products or those with antioxidants and stimulants like caffeine are great for your scalp. Some individuals have obtained great results by reducing how often they use products in general. Try just washing your hair with water, or only shampoo a few times a week.

Don't get stressed

This is a lot easier in theory, but stress is easily one of the biggest factors regarding hair loss. You don't want to end up in a cycle of worrying about your hair, and that then resulting in your shedding more. Occupy your time with hobbies and projects, or go run those errands you've been putting off. The less you think or worry about your hair, the better you will feel and look.

Plastic Surgery Nightmares And How To Avoid Them

Many people in the film industry have reportedly had some nips and tucks done on them to enhance their looks, but some of them have taken it way too far that the results are not so pretty. Plastic surgery nightmares can occur due to many reasons, including poorly trained or under-experienced surgeons, outdated techniques, poor judgment or just chance. There are people who have died as a result of the cosmetic procedures since their bodies did not respond well or they were under poor medical care.

Often, most of the plastic surgery nightmares can be avoided. One of the most important things you can do to make this possible is to make sure that the physician who is conducting the procedure has proper qualifications from the American Board of Plastic Surgery. The previous work of the physician should also be a consideration when deciding whether he can conduct the procedure on you or not. Check out the pictures of the surgeries that he or she did on previous patients. You can also ask for referrals from people who have had successful plastic surgeries.

Among the plastic surgery nightmares that most people have experienced include bad eye-lifts as well as nose jobs, bad hair transplantation and uneven breast augmentations or reductions. In other situations, the surgery can go well as it is expected, but the person that is getting the surgery could have unrealistic expectations of what the results would be. Most of the cosmetic surgery complaints are actually as a result of the surgery resulting into a worse appearance than before. It is therefore important for the doctor to explain to you everything clearly in order to dispel any unrealistic expectations.

Before you decide to go for plastic surgery, it is important to understand that it has inherent risks that you should carefully consider. But if you find a reputable and trusted surgeon who knows what he or she is doing, you do not have to worry. Such a professional considers you as the number one concern and not just the money. Sometimes, accepting the way you already look might be the best option to overcome plastic surgery nightmares. But if you feel like the surgery has to be done on you, it is imperative that you carry out enough research to avoid becoming a statistic on the list of people who had plastic surgery nightmares. Also, be sure that the surgeon implements an informed consent for your own good.
